So how do you save a marriage? There is no one answer, just a series of steps you can take to start finding your way back to where your relationship used to be and taking it to an even higher level of happiness and joy. To save your marriage, you need to know what your specific problems are. To do this as quickly and efficiently as possible, it's important to keep a few things in mind regarding communication. When you are trying to work out your problems, it's never a good idea to yell, scream, or play the blame game.
The last one can be especially tempting because we often feel like the other person is the source of the marital problems, when it reality the blame usually rests on both people's shoulders. Blaming one another wastes time and energy that could have been spent trying to fix things. Once you begin to identify what exactly is wrong, you need to work out a way to come up with a solution. The reason that finding a solution is so difficult for most couples is that they just don't know how to really talk to each other. Being a skilled talker and listener is harder than you may think.
Listening means more than just hearing what the other person is saying and talking means more than just shouting out how you feel without a filter or regard for the other person's feelings. You must be sensitive to your partner and what they think and feel. Doing these things will lead to positive changes in your relationship and ultimately to a much healthier marriage.
